‘I Am a Shell’ is the second picture book in the ‘I Am a…’ series, although the books don’t need to be read in any particular order. It was a red ribbon winner in the 2023 Wishing Shelf Book Awards.
This story focuses on a conch shell who is left lying empty and abandoned after being home to a sea snail and a hermit crab. The shell accidentally embarks on an adventure which brings new friends, unaware that its hidden talent will save the day.
I created the ‘I Am a…’ picture book series to tell tales from the perspective of something that’s inanimate. So if a stone or a shell could see, hear, and feel, what story would it tell us about its life? I’m currently working on the third book in the series, about a flower, so you can probably guess the title of that one (answers on a postcard).
